Gruesome Southern Horror with Heart

I’ll be honest. I thought choosing which of the Open Call submissions to read in full was difficult, but cutting the 18 finalists down to 10 or so is agonizing.

I’ve already inked Brian Fatah Steele and Adam Millard to contracts for their novels BLEED AWAY THE SKY and THE OCTOBER BOYS, and now I’ve come to a decision about a 3rd novel.

Please join me in welcoming Justin M. Woodward to the Bloodshot Books family. Next year, we will be publishing his second novel TAMER ANIMALS which he described to me as “gruesome Southern horror with heart”

Check out his synopsis below

“After a boring career in a small town, Sheriff Paul Stanton was not prepared for what he found when he went looking for a group of teenage boys in the woods near the Coheelee Creek Covered Bridge in Blakely, GA.

Patrick Hall and his three best friends had just wanted to enjoy a fun camping trip. There were rumors of ghosts in those woods, but they would find that these tales weren’t true. What was lurking in the wilds was much, much worse…

TAMER ANIMALS can be described as coming-of-age horror reminiscent of Stand by Me meeting The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”

We’ll be publishing his novel in late 2018, but if you can’t wait until next year to check out Justin’s work, his first novel THE VARIANT is only $0.99!
